Weekend 8th and 9th April

Had a quietish weekend this one as my usual partner in crime is entertaining his lady friend who is over from the UK.

On Friday went to the batting cages in preparation for my first international appearance as a softball player, playing for the company team "the Jaggers", original eh! Was managing the softball pitches OK so had a go at the baseball ones which are faster, was good fun but didn't hit many of the faster ones. After a bit of running around practicing fielding I was ready for some refreshment as it was quite warm. Went to a bar called tin can tavern, named because of its selection of canned lager. They had a menu and I didn't get past the dollar fifty cans, so quite a cheap session. Then went to a Thai restaurant called the King and I which was superb.

On Saturday went climbing in the morning and watched the Cardinals play baseball in the afternoon, managed to through away a 2-0 lead to lose 2-3 to their big rivals the Cubs. Went out for a few beers on Saturday night with one of the guys from work and his mates.

Was able to go for a run on Sunday morning, which was a fair effort after being out drinking on Saturday night. Just goes to show I don't drink as much when Steve isn't there, he's a bad influence on me obviously. Chilled out in the afternoon, reading my book out in the sun at Kiener Plaza and then watched the Cardinals lose again to the Cubs at night.

Luckily for the Cardinals they won on Monday night against the Milwaukee Brewers. Quite a fuss made over the game as it was opening night for the new stadium. Wednesday night this week is the start of the softball league so will post a picture afterwards.
