Hospitals, Heatwaves, Parties and Foo Fighters

I had my first experience of American hospitals this weekend, luckily only as a visitor. Jen's sister had to be admitted after an infection on her leg got really bad. She had to have IV antibiotics and had the infection cleaned out which left a little hole in her leg. The place was a bit different from hospitals in the UK, she had her own room with TV and bathroom and could phone in order for food from a decent menu at anytime. Not quite the NHS.

On Saturday we had a heat advisory in St Louis with a heat index of about 105 degF (about 40 degC). It was almost too hot to even sit outside. We went out to a party at my friend Sallie's to celebrate the fact that her husband was back from Iraq for a couple of weeks R&R.

On the Sunday night we went to the Scottrade Center to see the Foo Fighters. they had two support acts 'year long disaster', which pretty much described their attempt at music, and SuperGrass, as some of you will know are from the UK. The Foo Fighters came on and played a two and a half hour set that was really good. In the middle of the show a second stage came down at the opposite end from the main one and they all came down and played a bunch of songs there, pretty cool.
