Memorial Day Weekend

This weekend we went on a road trip around the top of Lake Michigan. The trip was about 1600 miles long and all we did was drive to and around the lake. We had a four day weekend for Memorial Day, which is held in memory of war veterans.

We set off on Friday morning at 2am to get up to Milwaukee by breakfast time. During the day we stopped off at a couple of state parks to walk the dogs and see some of the area and then headed to Green Bay for the night.

Green Bay, home of the football team The Packers, but that's about it. All I can say is Green Bay is awful and never ever think of visiting there.

On Saturday we drove through the upper peninsula of Michigan, pretty close to the Canadian Border to a little city called Mackinaw. We took a ferry to Mackinac Island for the rest of the day, this is a nicel little island where no motorized vehicles are allowed. We had a good time and after we got the ferry home it was late and we were tired after all the driving so headed to bed.

On Sunday we drove to Grand Rapids, Michigan, and visited Holly and Bob who are good friends of Jen. We spent the day with them which was nice and stayed the night in a really nice hotel room. It had a big king size bed, a sofa for the dogs, and a whirlpool bath that was big enough for two.
