UK visit December 2010

Well that's another visit to the UK over and done with, as always it seems to go by too fast.

This was Euan's first visit to the UK and he appeared to be the star attraction. He was the perfect little traveller. He was no problem on both flights and handled all the different houses and people visited. He always seemed to be smiling and having a good time.

This visit was more of an adventure than the previous ones due to the weather. We arrived at Heathrow and got a BMW which was rear wheel drive. We drove to my Mum's first. We arrived ok despite some heavy snow on the way there then proceeded to get stuck in the snow in the car park at my Mum's. Chris and a neighbour helped push the car into a spot where it was abandoned until we left on the Sunday.

Next we drove to Andy's and the drive was fine apart from the last few hundred feet where we almost had to abandon the car in the middle of the road due to the snow and being on an incline. Luckily we called Andy and he came round and gave us a push. What was supposed to be an overnight stay turned into 3 nights because of more snow and terrible traffic conditions throughout the central belt.

We had a good time staying at Andy's but this caused the rest of the trip to be changed so we could see everyone we wanted to visit.

We stopped in Perth for a night and stayed at Graeme's and managed to briefly visit my brother Chris and Grandad. Then off to Dad's in Rothes. The roads up there were fine, they know how to deal with the snow in the highlands. We had a few realxing days at Dads before starting the journey back to Heathrow.

The first day out from my Dad's we visited the Williams in Aboyne on the way to Dundee. We only got to see them for an hour but still good to catch up and see the new house. Then we had dinner with the Davidsons, good time but short and a far throw from our old pre-kid nights out. Both of these visits were a lot shorter than planned but good to get them in.

Then we headed to Glasgow and back to Andy's for the night. We stopped off in Auchterarder where we visited with the Cowans who were holidaying there with their family for a long weekend. Again, a short visit but good to see them.
After Andy's it was homewardbound, first to Heathrow and then the next day to Chicago.

We had a great time but were glad to get back to home sweet home. I hope everyone enjoyed meeting Euan and I hope some of you can make the trip over here sometime in the future. Flying direct to Chicago is a goood option and only a few hours from our place and not too expensive for the flights.
